How to Disable Aero Shake in Windows 7?

Advertisements

Aero Shake is a new feature included in Windows 7. It lets you minimize all windows except one by shaking the top of the window.  This is a very convenient feature, especially if you want to quickly get all open windows out of your way and minimize them to the Taskbar.

However, sometimes you may end up shaking away the windows to the taskbar, accidentally, especially if you are a bit shaky with your mouse. Most of the times, you just want to move the window around, but a small shaky gesture causes it to get minimized to the Taskbar! Want to disable the Aero Shake feature? Here are the steps to do it.

1. First you need to be logged in to Windows 7 as an Administrator.
2. Launch the Local Group Policy Editor by typing gpedit.msc in the Start menu search box and hitting Enter.
3. In the left panel of Local Group Policy Editor, navigate to Local Computer Policy –> User Configuration –> Administrative Templates –> Desktop.

4. You will find all Desktop related settings on the right side. Scroll down the list to find “Turn off Aero Shake window minimizing mouse gesture”.

5. Double click on it to open the setting’s options.
