How to Open Hidden Regional Themes in Windows 7?

Windows 7 comes preloaded with many beautiful desktop themes. If those are not enough for you, there are several awesome hidden themes in it depending on your country. These regional themes are hidden and not available by default.

In this article we give you steps on how to open these hidden regional themes and add them to your Windows 7 Personalization screen.

1. Open Windows Explorer.

2. Click on “Organize” tab and then select “Folder and Search Options”.

3. In the options make sure that:

- Show hidden files, folders, and drives is selected and

- Hide protected operating system files is unchecked.

4. Open the Windows installed drive (C:\\Windows Drive in most cases)

5. Open Globalization –> MCT.

6. In the MCT folder, You will see country specific MCT folders like  MCT-AU (Australia), MCT-ZA (South Africa), MCT-CA (Canada), MCT-GB (Great Britain) etc.

7. In each of these folders, you will find a .theme file for that country.

8. Double click on any of these theme files.

Windows 7 will set that as your current desktop theme. The theme will also get added in the “My Themes” Personalization screen.
