How To Fix Sleep Or Hibernate Problem While Burning CD/DVD In Windows 7?

Advertisements

You might have specified automatic sleep or hibernate mode when there is no user activity in the PC. For example, in the ‘Power Options’ of Windows 7 you have set 5 minutes as the time period to enter into Sleep or Hibernate mode on no user activity. Now you start burning CD or DVD using default Windows 7 burning program and leave the PC with out activity in any input devices of the computer like mouse or keyboard. If the burning takes more than the sleep or Hibernate time specified (5 minutes in our example), the PC goes off into Sleep or Hibernate mode and your CD or DVD burning gets stopped resulting in a corrupted or incomplete burned CD or DVD.

This is a known issue and happens only when you use Windows 7 burning problem and not third party burning software. The problem happens because Windows 7 burning program is not able to stop the hibernation process.

Microsoft has released a hotfix for this issue. Download the update and install it if you are facing this problem.

Download Hotfix (Files: Isoburn.exe and Shell32.dll)

After applying the Hotfix, you should restart the computer.

This hot fix applies to Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.
