Fix Stop Error Messages When Resuming A Computer Having Large SATA Hard Disk In Windows 7

Do you have a large  Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) hard disk like of capacity 1TB or more in your Windows 7 PC? Then you might have faced a STOP Error problem.  In such scenarios,  Windows 7 throws a STOP error message after you resume your PC from Hibernation mode or sleep mode.

The STOP error messages are usually one of the following:

STOP 0x0000007A

STOP 0×00000077

STOP 0x000000F4

This is a known issue and according to Microsoft Support Site, this issue occurs because the SATA hard disk drivers require the SATA hard disks to be ready within 10 seconds when you resume a computer from sleep or from hibernation. But, a large SATA hard disk may take longer than 10 seconds to be ready. Hence the resume operation times out and Windows 7 gives out one of the above error message.

Microsoft has released a Hotfix to fix this issue.

This update applies to Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.

A successful dual boot requires the oldest operating system to be installed first. You should install in this order: XP, Vista, Windows 7 (depending on which 2 OSs you want). You can do a triple boot like this as well. Just remember that you should install from oldest OS to most recent OS. Loading the OSs in any other order will corrupt files required for booting. There is a way to repair it afterwards, but it takes some work.
