Port Expert is a free portable utility to know which processes on your Windows PC is using the network connection. This tiny tool which is less than 500Kb in size can be a useful utility to dig out the culprit program that is slowing down or jamming your network.
By default view, PortExpert shows the TCP/UDP protocols that are accessing network, but you do get option to show local connections and system processes too by clicking on the buttons located at the bottom of program’s interface. And if that’s enough for your inspection, you can use the “Freeze Time” option for the real-time view. It supports automatic identification of related service : FTP, HTTP, HTTPS etc.. Other features include integrated Whois lookup and web search for process names using Google search engine.
All-in-all, PortExpert is a nice little handy standalone utility that monitors all applications using the Internet, which might be useful in identifying potential threats to your system like spyware and adware.
