Screen Task is a free opensource utility that lets you to easily share your Windows screen with others on the same network via local connection or WiFi. It can be setup in minutes, there is a standalone version that doesn’t need to be installed to use it – just run its exe file, and you are ready to share your desktop.
Screen Task need to be run on the PC who’s screen is to be shared. When you use the program it starts a local web server that streams your screen over the local network. You can choose from one of the two available connection types : Local Area Connection or a Loopback Pseudo Interface.
The user need to only open a browser, and type in the URL that is provided by the program, and that’s it – your screen gets shared.
The program automatically adds a rule to the Windows firewall, so you need not manually do anything to allow access or anything like that, unless until you are using a dedicated third-party firewall software, and in such case you may have to add a manual exception to allow sharing access on the shared PC. You can specify the refresh interval of the streaming video in milliseconds, it’s like adjusting the frame rate of the video. Optionally, ScreenTask also allows you to authorize viewing access in a private session, using a username and password, just in case if you want it that way, for security or privacy.
ScreenTask is a 100% clean, no nag, no malware utility, and completely free utility that runs on Windows 8/7/and Vista, and need .NET Framework 4.5 to be pre-installed to run it.
