How to upgrade Windows 7 / 8.1 to Windows 10 via Windows Update
Windows 10 is here, if you have Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 on your PC, then you are eligible for free Windows 10 upgrade. Before taking the plunge you may want to check if your PC is fully compatible with Windows 10 including hardware, drivers, and software. You may have reserved Windows 10 already, if not, don’t worry you are still eligible for free Windows 10 upgrade until 29th July 2016.

Note that your PC needs to have internet connection to download Windows 10. The download size is around 3GB.
Go to Windows Update. Windows 7 users can go through Control Panel, while Windows 8.1 users can use the Charms and search for Windows Update.
Check for update and after scanning is complete, you will get notification of Upgrade to Windows 10. Click Get started.
From here the process is straightforward, you need to follow the on-screen instructions. But don’t worry, I have the screenshot of entire process for your reference and confidence.
After download is complete, you need to accept the Terms.
In next step your PC will be restart in BIOS mode and you will not be able to launch browser to read this post, so take a print out or open the page in other device – just saying! Click on Start the upgrade now.
During configuration update for Windows 10, it may look like stuck at some point, for example it stayed for a while on 61% complete, but don’t worry it will proceed further.
Your PC will restart itself automatically and now the upgrade begins with Windows 10 installation screen in which you will see a circle with percentage completion status at the center.
If everything goes well, Windows 10 will greet you with welcome back message!
