If you are configuring Windows 7 for the first time and using Microsoft Narrator (In the Set Up Windows wizard) to create a new user account, you could face a problem during the process. The issue arises when you click Control whether Narrator starts when I log on link in the Narrator.

In this case, you receive the following error message:

The server process could not be started because the configured identity is incorrect. Check the username and password.

When you click OK, you receive the following error message:

Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

(Exception from HRESULT: 0x800401A).

The problem has been identified by Microsoft Customer Service team. According to KB977132, this problem occurs during the out-of-box experience of the Windows setup process.  The system uses a secure desktop environment during the process. When you click the “Control whether Narrator starts when I log on” link, the system tries to access a user account. However, there is no user account for the system to access because a user account has not been created yet. This behavior causes the error message.

Microsoft Customer Service team have released an hotfix for this problem. Download this update and install it in your PC. Alternately, You can safely ignore this error message and continue the Windows setup. This problem does not occur if you click the link after you create a user account.
