Where Is Show Desktop Icon Gone In Windows 7 Taskbar

Remember the “Show desktop” icon in Windows XP Taskbar? On clicking the icon, all the windows will be minimized and desktop is shown instantly. In Windows 7, “Show desktop” feature is relocated and revamped with a new feature called “Aero Peek”.

To minimize all windows, programs and show desktop you must click “Show desktop” located at the right end of the Superbar (Windows 7 term for taskbar).

Aero Peek

Aero Peek is a new feature in Windows 7 which temporarily shows you desktop when you move mouse over the Show Desktop button. To use this feature you should have Aero feature enabled in your Windows 7 PC.

To enable Aero Peek, follow these steps:

1. Right-click on taskbar and select “Properties”.

2. In the “Taskbar and Start Menu Properties” click on the Taskbar tab.

3. At the bottom of the dialog box, you will notice “Preview desktop with Aero Peek” section. Check box “Use Aero Peek to preview the desktop”.

4. Click Apply and then OK.

You are done.
