How To Check And Repair Damaged System Files In Windows 7

If you get an error message saying that Windows System file has corrupted then you can repair the damaged system files by using old sfc command line utility. This command works with Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.

To repair the damaged Windows System files while the Windows is running, follow these steps:

1. Login as Administrator of your PC.

2. Click Start –> All Programs –> Accessories–> right-click on Command Prompt and select “Run as Administrator”.

3. Now Type sfc /scannow in the command prompt and hit enter (refer below snapshot).

4. Windows will now scan for damaged system files and verifies it’s integrity.

5. Wait till the scan is 100% complete. During the process it fixes most of damaged files. Windows may prompt for Windows Installation CD/DVD to copy original files. Accordingly, insert the installation CD.
