How To Remove Games Link From Start Menu Of Windows 7

By default, Windows 7 shows “Games” link in the Start Menu. If you don’t use this link, it’s better you take it off from the start menu. There are two ways to disable Games item from start menu. Method I lets you remove Games link but any user can get bring it back by customizing Start Menu. Method II, will make use of Group Policy Editor to remove the link. Only administrators can revert it.

Note that, removing the Games link will NOT remove/uninstall the Games from your PC.

Method I

1. Right-click on the Taskbar and select “Properties”.

2. In the “Customize Taskbar and Start Menu Properties” dialog, click on “Start Menu” tab.

3. Click on “Customize…”

4.In the “Customize Start Menu” dialog box, look for “Games” section. Check the “Don’t display this item” radio button.

3. Click OK

You are done.

Method II

Login as Administrator of your PC.

1. Click Start, type “gpedit.msc” in the programs search box and hit enter.

2. Local Group Policy Editor will be launched. In the left pane, navigate through:

User Configuration –> Administrative Templates –> Start Menu and Taskbar

3. In the right pane, look for “Remove Games link from Start Menu” and double-click on it.

4. Click “Enabled”.

5. Click OK

You are done. In this scenario, only users with Administrator rights can disable the same.

    but what if you accidently drag and drop an item there and for some reason will not allow you to delete. I dropped a webpage shortcut in to games, it dose nothing, and the option to delete it doesnt work. any idea on removing that.
