Turn USB Flash Drive Into Key To Lock And Unlock Windows Using Predator

Predator is a powerful utility to lock and unlock your PC using a USB flash drive. The program does a brilliant job in keeping your PC secure by using your Pen drive as the key to log in and out of your Windows.

Just plug-in your Pen drive, Predator will generate a security code and place it on the device to identify it as the key and in few steps your USB flash drive turns into a Key to login to Windows.  The program then checks in intervals if the drive is still inserted or not. If it finds no pen drive, the program locks your computer.

If someone tries to login to your PC when USB device is removed, it asks for login password. User should then enter the password in 20 seconds, else an alarm will sound and access is denied. Predator also lets you see the logs of the access attempts when you unlock your PC.

Moreover, the programs frequently changes the security codes recorded on your USB device which means even if anyone copies the data from your Pen drive, he can’t use it to unlock your PC. Because the security codes gets changed meanwhile.

On the first run of this program you are given option to set a password. This password will be used to unlock Windows incase you lost the USB flash device.

    Although this program looks good at first glace it can be easily defeated. You can login using windows safe mode (they even admit that on their website). If you copy the USB key you can still use the copy. The list goes on. We use a utiltiy called Transparent Screen Lock PRO http://www.e-motional.com/TScreenLock.htm This has similar functionality but is more professional as it cannot be defeated.
