How To Stop Windows 7 Based Laptop From Going To Sleep Mode When Lid Is Closed
You may wish your laptop to do nothing except to turn off the monitor when you close the lid of your laptop. Windows 7 default settings is to make laptop to go in Sleep mode when lid is closed. In few simple steps you can configure your Windows 7 to do nothing when the lid is closed.
1. Click Start button.
2. Type “Power Options” in the Program search box and hit enter.
3. In the Power Options dialog box, click “Choose what closing the lid does” link in the left side pane.

4. In the Power and Sleep buttons and settings section, you have two options to set- “On Battery” and “Plugged in”.
Configure as per your needs. For example we only want laptop to do nothing upon closing the lid while in “Plugged In” mode. Click on the drop down list and choose option “Do nothing” as shown in below snapshot.

5. Click “Save Changes” button.
6. Exit “Power Options” window.
That’s it. Your laptop should now not go into sleep or hibernation mode when you close the lid.
