How To Disable "Reopen Last Browsing Session" In Internet Explorer 8

Internet Explorer 8 browser lets you open the last browsing session while you closed the browser. The link can be found when you open a new tab. The link “Reopen Last Browsing Session” appears below “Reopen closed tabs” as shown in screen-shot below. This is useful when you accidentally closed browser in mid of browsing session. But due to this your browsing history may be exposed to others and may pose a threat to your privacy.



1.reopen_last_browsing_session

We will explain you how to disable “Reopen Last Browsing Session” feature be editing registry.

1. Login to your PC as Administrator.

2. Click Start–> type “regedit.exe” in the program search box and hit enter.

2.launch_registry_editor

3. This will launch Registry Editor. In the left side pane, navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER –> Software –> Microsoft –> Internet Explorer –> Recovery

4. In the right side pane, right-click in empty area and click “DWORD (32-bit) Value”.

4.dword_value_new

5. Rename it as “NoReopenLast Session”.

5.new_dword_value_input


6. Double-click on the entry and type “Value data” as “1″.

7. Close Registry Editor.

8. Restart Internet Explorer 8.

You are done. Internet Explorer 8 will now not remember the last browsing session.

    Thank you soooo much!!! After hrs of searching for a solution, this was the first website that provided the answer to disable the most annoying “Reopen closed tabs” option in Windows 7 IE 8. Every other website suggested GP Edit but this is not available in the Windows 7 Home Edition. U R the BEST!!!! aahhh!!! so grateful…. finally this is now turned off.
