How To Enable/Disable Network Discovery In Windows 7

Advertisements

Network Discovery is a network setting that allows you to configure your Windows PC in such a way that your computer can find other computers on the network and whether other computers on the network can find your computer. When Network Discovery is turned ON, your PC is visible to other Users in Network. When turned OFF, others can’t find your computer in Network.

Turn ON Network Discovery

1. Click Start –> Control Panel

2. Change the view to “Large Icons”, scroll down the list and click on “Network and Sharing Center” link.

mine keeps turning ON, when i want it off. how can i change this?

Problem is, for many of us, these steps don’t work. When I try this, it goes back to the main screen, and when I check to see if it saved, it didn’t = reverts to “off” every time. All the needed services are turned on, too, so that isn’t the issue.
