How To Disable Recently Opened Items From Start Menu And Taskbar Of Windows 7

By default, Windows 7 stores recently opened items like programs and documents and displays it in the start menu. These comes handy especially when you are the single user of your PC. But when your PC is shared between many users, this may pose a threat to your privacy.

You can make Windows not to store and display recently opened items in start menu and taskbar.

1. Right-click on taskbar and click “Properties”.

2. In the “Taskbar and Start Menu Properties” dialog box, click on “Start Menu” tab.

Uncheck the check boxes in Privacy section which says “Store and display recently opened programs in the Start menu”. and “Store and display recently opened items in the Start menu and the taskbar”.

3. Click “OK” to save the changes.

You will immediately see the changes. Recently used Start menu items will be cleared.
