Puran Defrag: A Free And Powerful Disk Defragmentation Software

Puran Defrag is a powerful and free defragmentation program developed for Windows. In our review, we found it fast and easy to use. Apart from regular defragmentation features, Puran Defrag has some great features usually not found in other free defragmentation software.

It’s Boot Time defragmentation feature let’s you defrag Windows system files while booting. It can optimize directories for faster access and also fills gaps to avoid frequent fragmentation. It’s Intelligent Optimizer feature boosts system speed by placing the most often used directories and system files in optimal location.

Puran Defrag lets you perform selective defragmentation. It adds an shortcut in right-click context menu using which you can defrag individual file by right-clicking on the file or folder and then select “Puran Defrag”.

Other features include automatic defragmentation using which you can schedule defragmentation in various ways like selected date and time or defrag when PC is idle for certain duration etc. You have the option to shutdown your computer after defragmentation is completed.

We found “Pause” feature missing which comes handy when you want to run a large resource intensive application in middle of defragmentation. We did find “Low Priority” option which will lessen CPU utilization. But that’s not enough for low end machine. Users would like to Pause some times. We hope it will be added in forth coming releases.
