Where Is Search Gone In Folder Right-Click Menu Of Windows 7

We all are fond of “Search..” function in Windows XP which comes as an option when you right-click on any folder. Below is the snapshot of the search functionality in Windows XP.

You will miss this handy and most used feature when you have upgraded to Windows 7. Search functionality is no more available from right-click folder options in Windows 7.

Search feature is now in top right corner of any folder window. The feature is enhanced to give live results, which means you will see results as you start keying in letters.

Click inside the search box to see the search options  “Date modified” and “Size” (refer image below).

Advanced Search Options in Windows 7

Having figured out this, you would still find “Advanced Search Options” like Search System Folders, Search Hidden Files and Folders, Search Subfolders, Case Sensitive missing! To get all this options, follow these steps:

1. Type “Folder Options” in the program search box and hit enter.

2. In the “Folder Options” dialog box, click on “Search” tab.

3. In this section you can configure all the search parameters like searching in indexed locations, including sub-directories, partial matches, system directories, include compressed zip files etc.
